Two of the major Jewish festivals established in the Hebrew Bible (Shavuot and Sukkot) align with the two major harvests of the year, and the Israelite law contains instructions to set aside a portion of the harvest for "the poor and the foreigner among you.". Yet Jesus took the concept of harvest to a higher plane in our New Testament reading. Soon we will offer our own gifts which, will be combined with the offerings from our two church schools, and will be given to further the work of The Sanctuary Trust, and the relief that these items will bring to people who are less fortunate than us.
